Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and
the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace,
may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made
and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our
cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God
is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner
in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and
the home of the brave!
Francis Scott Key, "The Star Spangled
Banner" 4th Verse

Becoming a delegate to the Continental
Congress of Art
To become a delegate to the Continental
Congress of Art, you need not win a majority of votes
of free landowners in your county, nor be appointed by a special
commission in your municipality. You need only nominate yourself,
submit some samples of your work, and pass muster with our staff.
While artists of all varieties may apply to become delegates, we are
mainly seeking those who particularly excel as writers or graphic artists.
We show an admitted bias toward nominees who are lesser known, or indeed unknown.
If accepted, you will be asked to submit a brief biography. We will
post a few representative samples of your work as well as links to
your website if applicable. For examples of how you will be presented
as a delegate, please see our current
Delegates
page.
Due to space restrictions, we
can not post pieces of great length. If a delegate has
written a novel or long poem, we invite them to submit characteristic
excerpts. Please do not send work that has already been published.
If you would like to include a previously published work as part
of your delegate's profile, we will gladly link to it on Amazon.com,
Barnes & Noble, or other websites.
We will not claim the rights to
work that is contributed. Delegates will retain all copyrights
to their own work. Be aware, however, that some publishers will
not accept work that has previously been published on the internet.
Keep in mind that we strive to maintain
a high level of artistic excellence and therefore have
to be rather selective in determining the appropriateness and
quality of material. We cannot accept all submissions. We hope
that by this selectivity we do not discourage submission, but
rather inspire and challenge potential delegates to the very best of
their ability.
If you are selected as a delegate, there will never
be any charge for your listing. The editors do, however, retain the right
to remove a delegate for any reason.
